I know you went through hell, but this story brought a constant smile to my face and made me belly laugh multiple times. Life is about these moments that make you stronger and give you great memories.
When we moved a few years ago with Rhône we were dumb enough to do a giant Reno right away and soon discovered living in the house at the same time with a 1.5 year old was insane. So we lived in hotels and airbnbs and my brother’s house in Madison, two hours away, on weekends for 8 weeks. To put a bow on that experience one of our first nights in the house Rhône fell into the corner of an end table and we subsequently spent 4 hours at the ER while they dermabonded her face.
Pretty sure you have to endure a little to truly enjoy. But please stay away from the ER for a couple weeks ❤️
I have to say, speaking with you about your reno convinced us to hold off on doing a bunch of the work we want to do on this place. And thank god we don't have that hanging over us now, too!
lol. I can’t even imagine staring at the contractors coming after a weekend of what you just endured. Hopefully balance comes back to the McGrann household soon.
Hah, yes it was indeed that game. He’s a fan of sports, so he watches the Steelers—but he really only *cares* about Notre Dame football. (He might not have looked up if the Irish were playing!)
Grape elevator. Find the cow.
This may be my favorite piece yet. (And dare I say - the M word - the most marketable?)
And y'all only had to almost die to write it.
The sacrifices we make for good stories 🤣
I’m done for the day after reading that. Happy to know you all survived the gauntlet (btw, moving is hard but shouldn’t be this hard).
And good on you for following the crazy-sounding instructions at the children’s hospital.
Isn't that already a Seth Godin book? Grape Elevator Find the Cow
Yes, an instant classic!
Although I know how you generally feel about business books. 📕🔥
I actually like Seth's books because they're anti-prescriptive. They're generally provocations. I respect that.
They are also fairly short and, from what I recall from the last one I read, tend to get to the point.

Oh.my.goodness! I don't even know what to say...wow
Thanks, Michael. It was quite cathartic to write this piece!
